Fantastic bronze medal at EC Cross in Dublin 2009!
At the European Cross Country Championships in Dublin, Adrienne took the bronze medal in the ladies race. It is het first international medal at the senior women's level, after medals at under 23 and junior championships.
Adrienne ran a smart race and stayed most of the race in 4th and 5th position. She, however, never lost sight of the leaders, Hayey Yelling and Rosa Morato. Inez Monteiro and Jessica augosto helped Herzog move up to the leaders, but it was Herzoh herself who made the final junp to bronze with an impressive finish. Yelling and Morato stayed out of reach.
"I am very pleased with my first level at the international women's level. Junior and U23 medals are nice, but they don't count in international sports. One has to score medals regardless of age, so the senior category is the category that counts. My next goal is to win a medal on the track, and then to win a title", herzog said after the finish.
Although athletics is an individual sport, a medal never comes alone. Adrienne thanks the people who supported her in het preparation to the race: her parents and family that came out to Dublin to watch, her new coach Manolo Pasco and het former coach Eddy Kiemel, her training mates such as Reyes Estevez, Miguel Quesada and Nuria Fernandez. "They helped me a lot in my preparation for this race".
